Paint Creek Center for the Arts (PCCA) is delighted to announce the election of a new Board President, Teckla Rhoads, and a new Board Secretary, Diane Freeman Heath.
Rhoads, a resident of Shelby Twp., has been a part of the board of directors at PCCA for over four years, and has previously served in the role of secretary. She is a designer and community supporter, retired from General Motors (GM) Design, where she served as the Executive Director of Global Industrial Design until 2017. During her tenure with GM Design, Rhoads led the teams responsible for GM’s visual brand expression for all GM brands and throughout the company.
In addition to PCCA, Rhoads also serves on the boards for Cass Community Social Services, CREATE Collective, Concours of the Americas, Meadow Brook Hall, and the Board of Advocacy for the Oakland University Kresge Library.
“Being able to support the creation and implementation of art in our community has always been something I’m passionate about, and it is a privilege to do so alongside the staff, faculty and students at Paint Creek Center for the Arts,” said Rhoads. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members to continue the growth of PCCA programming and the center as a whole.”
Rhoads replaces former PCCA Board President, Chris Tanana, who will remain on the board of directors following his resignation. Tanana has been on PCCA’s Board of Directors since 2015, serving as Board Treasurer for two years and as Board President for five.
“Working with Chris throughout my first year at PCCA has been nothing short of a wonderful experience,” said Executive Director, Shaun Hayes. “We are fortunate that he will remain on our board following his tenure as President and are so grateful for the example he set for all future executive roles on the board at PCCA.”
Diane Freeman Heath is currently an art educator at Oakland Christian School after retiring from teaching at Rochester Community Schools. She has a passion for assisting students in the process of finding the college that best prepares them for a career in the arts, from becoming accepted to their preferred college to attaining the highest scholarships available.
In addition to PCCA, Heath also serves on the boards for the Michigan Art Education Association and The Oakland Schools Fine Arts Counsil.
“It is an honor to be a member of the board at Paint Creek Center for the Arts. PCCA offers a wide array of courses from young students to adults, and I look forward to helping develop more high school and educator offerings there,” said Heath.
“Having Diane’s insight into the art education community in Rochester is truly invaluable,” said Hayes. “I couldn’t be happier with the direction our organization is heading and the people who are dedicated to getting us there.”
