Joining the team in June of 2019, Nafeesah brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of Art Education and Research. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in drawing and painting, a K-12 teaching certification and a Master of Arts in Art Administration. Her research focus is in arts education, culturally responsive pedagogy, and the preparation of professional development for art educators and teaching artists from Eastern Michigan University. With over a decade of teaching experience in the arts, Nafeesah is well versed in best practices for the art educators classroom. As a past recipient of the District of Columbia’s Mayor’s Art Award for Excellence in Visual Art Secondary Teaching, it goes without saying that Nafeesah is incredibly passionate about art education, arts advocacy and program development. Her passion for the arts is rooted in her desire to share her gifts as an educator and painter. She is excited to join the PCCA team as Manager of Art Education and eager to assist in ushering the Center into a new era.
