From the Holstein Foundation’s “Showring Ready: A Beginner’s Guide to Showing Dairy Cattle, volume 2”: “Working with dairy cattle and preparing them for a show can be an extremely rewarding and fun experience.”

The brainchild of organizing artists, Carlo Vitale and Gary Mayer, Fresh Pasture paid homage to Vitale’s experiences working on dairy farms throughout his youth and brought together the collaborative efforts of some of Michigan’s best exhibiting artists. Shrewd cattle judges may recognize the inclusion of several of these fine bovines previously at pasture in the Cow Show at Black Box (Dearborn). Finding Fresh Pasture at PCCA, the work was joined by new herd members for another round of grazing and appreciation. Featuring over thirty-five pieces depicting dairy cattle, this all-American dairy-themed exhibit was a whimsical and well received kick-off to PCCA’s 2023 exhibit calendar.

An opening reception was held at the Paint Creek Center for the Arts on February 4th from 5-8pm. A gallery talk with Deborah Sukenic and Kris Schaedig was held on February 18th at 1pm.
