The Edible Still Life

North Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

Art history is full of still life paintings depicting food. This class will focus on food as art. Students will learn to paint directly from observation placing emphasis on color, shape, texture and form. At the completion of each still life students will be able to eat the food they painted!

Beginning Painting

West Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

This class will introduce students with no prior painting experience, or those who would like a refresher course to the basics of working with either acrylic and/or oil paint. Emphasis will be placed on materials, color mixing, paint application and composition.

Ceramic Adventures

Clay Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

In this class students will explore a variety of clay techniques including; pinch, coil and slab methods. Individual attention will be given to each student as they discover the fun of working with clay. Functional and sculptural projects will be made.

Cartooning

North Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

Young people who are inspired by comic books, stories or imagination can find creative fulfillment as an illustrator or cartoonist. Students will learn techniques to develop their own cartoon characters and how to place them into suitable environments to create visual stories.

Youth Painting

West Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

This class introduces young artists to still life, landscapes, portraits, self portraits and more. Students will gain experience with color mixing, paint application, color theory, design, composition and knowledge of materials.

Beginning Wheel Throwing

Clay Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

Learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing from centering to trimming. This class will cover the basics of wheel thrown forms including cups, bowls, plates, vases and pitchers.

Advanced Concepts in Art Making

North Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

This class is for advanced students who wish to further their drawing and painting skills while developing a cohesive themed body of work. Through individual mentorship from the instructor and group critiques, students will explore their personal direction in art making. All drawing and painting media are welcome.

Painting Abstraction

West Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

Abstract art began in 1911 with the belief that colors can evoke emotions. This class will introduce students to the process of abstract art making through color, shape, paint application, scale and size. Students will learn to see the world in a new way.

Sea Scape Painting

North Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

This class is for students who have beginning painting skills in either oil or acrylic. Students will explore the process of painting water based landscapes. Topics will include process issues such as using photographic references along with field work and painting locations that are not easily accessible.

Advanced Wheel Throwing

Clay Studio 407 Pine Street, Rochester

In this class students will develop an individual style while learning to create large vessels, platers, lidded objects and altered forms. Beginner wheel throwing experience required.
