Abstract art began in 1911 with the belief that colors can evoke emotions. This class will introduce students to the process of abstract art making through color, shape, paint application, scale and size. Students will learn to see the world in a new way.
This class is for students who have beginning painting skills in either oil or acrylic. Students will explore the process of painting water based landscapes. Topics will include process issues such as using photographic references along with field work and painting locations that are not easily accessible.
In this class students will develop an individual style while learning to create large vessels, platers, lidded objects and altered forms. Beginner wheel throwing experience required.
One of the benefits of taking an adult class at PCCA is our open studio program. Members and currently enrolled students receive unlimited open studio time in their class medium for the duration of their class.
In this class, students will learn to draw or paint the nude figure using a variety of media including charcoal, graphite, ink, watercolor, acrylic, oil and more. Do you love pattern and texture? This class may be for you! Students will explore decorative finishing techniques such as glazes, slips, stains and carving.
This class will introduce family members to a wide range of media and techniques using both dry and wet materials. Projects will encourage families to get creative together while expressing values and strengthening bonds.
This class is for young people who love drawing! Students will be introduced to various materials including charcoal, pen, pastel, ink, colored pencil and other media. Focus will be on building skills along with understanding the potential of each media. Creative expression and fun will be encouraged!
This class is for advanced high school students who would like develop a strong body of work. Emphasis will be placed on technique, material, personal direction and critique. Class size will be limited to provide individualized curriculum.
This class will introduce family members to wheel thrown projects including cups, bowls and plates as well as hand building and sculptural techniques. Projects will encourage families to get creative together while expressing values and strengthening bonds. All pieces will be glazed and fired.
