2024 Student & Faculty Exhibition

Held each year, the Student & Faculty exhibition highlights the work of current students of all ages and PCCA’s talented teaching faculty. With no set theme, the goal of the exhibit is to showcase the progress and dedication to creative learning by members of our Art Education department and their student artists. The only stipulations for submission were that the work must have been made as part of PCCA’s educational programming and cannot have been show in an exhibit at PCCA previously.

An opening reception will take place on Friday, November 15 from 4pm – 7pm. This will coincide with the opening of our retail Holiday Art Market, located on the main floor.

Thank you to our sponsor!

Application Guidelines

  • Open to all students who took classes at PCCA in 2024.
  • Limited to 3 entries per artist. Where artists exceed 3 entries, PCCA will only jury the first 3 submitted (based on entry timestamp). It is strongly recommended that you determine which pieces are your strongest works before you submit them to avoid over-submitting.
  • All entries must be original artwork, designed and executed by the accepted artist. Kit work or commercial reproductions of any kind will not be accepted and should not be submitted for consideration.
  • Artwork in the following mediums is eligible for inclusion: most 2- and 3-D mediums, including but not limited to: ceramic, collage, digital art, drawing, fiber and fabrics, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, woodworking, etc.
  • Artwork must be submitted through the online application form and received by the submission deadline to be considered. PCCA will not consider or accept externally submitted artwork (walk-in, separate email, mailed).
  • Avoid submitting artwork that is larger than 5’ high by 5’ wide. PCCA is only able to accept a very limited number of large-scale works.
  • Work that has been included in previous PCCA exhibits, on or off-site, will not be accepted and should not be submitted for consideration.
  • Membership is not required to participate in gallery exhibitions at PCCA, nor does it guarantee acceptance into exhibitions.
  • There is no cost to apply to this exhibition.

Submitting Your Work

  • All work must be submitted to the Jotform submission page for consideration.
  • Submissions must be received no later than 11:59pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024, for consideration. Late applications will not be considered.
  • Artwork must be submitted through the online entry form and requires the following information for each piece submitted:
    • Your/Artist Name
    • Title of Artwork
    • Medium
    • Dimensions in inches (width, height, depth). If your work is framed, please use the size of your frame, not the artwork, as this is how much space your work will occupy on the wall.
    • Year your work was finished
    • Retail Price. If your work is not for sale, please select “NFS” on the form.
  • Artist statements are not required, but are included in the jury process if submitted.
  • Whenever possible, art files should be titled with your last name and the name of the artwork to avoid any confusion when work is digitally archived. Example: instead of “IMG4427.jpeg”, rename your file “YourLastName_ArtworkTitle.jpeg”.

Selection Process

All open call exhibitions are juried by PCCA’s current exhibition committee members. Committee members independently receive and review all eligible entries via slideshow and submit their individual scores for each piece. Artwork is randomly sorted in the slideshow, with the following information displayed alongside the image: title, size, medium, price/nfs, and (optional) artist statement. Each submission is randomly assigned a submission number. Artist names are not included in the jury slideshow.

Jurors score artwork based on relevance to the theme, originality of concept, clarity of concept, artistic execution, aesthetic value to the show, and overall value to the exhibit. Jurors score work on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest possible score and 10 being the highest possible score.

Art will be accepted or denied entry into the show based on what pieces score the highest, along with other factors such as size and space relative to the limitations of our gallery space.

Accepted Artwork

Artists will be notified of acceptance via email only on Friday, October 18. Acceptance emails include a letter detailing artwork accepted (email body) and an artist packet (attached .pdf) which includes the contract for display, inventory sheet, and a Michigan W9. These documents must be completed and returned to PCCA at the time of artwork delivery. PCCA will not accept artwork into the building without a completed contract and inventory sheet. Artists are responsible for bringing work to PCCA, picking up unsold artwork after the exhibit, or for covering shipping cost either way.

Accepted artwork must arrive at PCCA between October 27 and November 2. Artwork not arriving by November 2 will not be included in the show.

Artists should only bring artwork that was accepted for the exhibit to PCCA. PCCA will not accept or display any work that was not part of the jury process for selection. PCCA reserves the right to reject artwork upon delivery that does not reflect the artwork that was selected from said jury process.

Accepted artwork must be ready for display at drop-off and PCCA follows a strict no wet work policy for exhibitions. Wet paintings, frames without hanging hardware or wire, damaged work, etc. will not be accepted by PCCA staff and will be turned away.

Artwork Sales and Pickup

Retail pricing is determined solely by the artist. PCCA will not change pricing on artwork without prior approval from the creating artist.

PCCA retains a commission on the sale of all artworks sold through our Art Market and gallery exhibits. PCCA members receive 70% of the sale price of the artwork, while non-members receive 60% of the sale price. PCCA collects, reports, and pays all sales taxes.

Not for sale and unsold artwork will be available for pick up by the artist or an artist representative beginning on January 3 and through January 10.
